Happiness Is a Warm Puppy

Back in the mid-1990s, just a few years after I had become a webmaster and was using email regularly, an old friend from my crazy, hazy punk-goth days in Toronto, Canada emailed me. He found my email address in some online directory and even though the phone numbers were wrong, somehow my email was correct. We were both surprised. He wasn't sure he had reached the right person. It had been about 8 years since we'd hung out together, getting in trouble, trying to pick up girls. That summer, I went up to beautiful Montreal, Canada to visit him and his girlfriend and met many wonderful people.

I made a number of trips over the next few summers, and unfortunately we ended up parting ways a few years later because of some disagreement over the money he borrowed from me. But I had fun and wouldn't change anything that happened.

On one of my summer trips up to Montreal, my friend's pit-bull cross had a litter of pups, which we nicknamed "The Poopies". If you've ever been depressed or down, holding a wriggling, squirming, warm little puppy will do wonders for you. His dog had a litter of 11 little wrigglers. Both of us had been down for different reasons. But after walking around the streets of the NDG area of Montreal with a couple of pups each in our hands, we met so many cool people that we were laughing and having a grand time. I don't think my friend ever laughed or smiled so much ever before or ever again, that I've seen. I miss talking to you, F.P.

The punkmonk will dispense tough love in these pages, from knowledge acquired from a lifetime of sin and 10 years of drunkeness followed by 10 years of meditation (and a bit more drunkeness :)
